The Review | Origins Super Spot Remover

Origins Super Spot Remover, £13

So not long ago I did a post about a spot treatment from Clearasil (post here) and in all fairness, it helped when I first started using it but after so many weeks the spots were still there and I was getting really fed up of having constant spots popping up in the same area - my chin and for some reason, around my nose.

I was then browsing various blogs and I found a few posts dedicated to the Origins Super Spot Remover which is designed to help with blemish and oil control. It's in a tiny blue bottle, only holding 10ml and at £13 I personally thought it was pretty expensive for what you get, however, I haven't even used half of it and I must say I apply it like it's going out of fashion AND it's still going strong.

It's a gel formula which helps heal, fight and fade breakouts which is exactly what it does. The salicylic acid instantly helps with the healing process while the "anti spot technology" (god knows what that is) helps to correct post blemish marks. The caffeine and the red algae helps to relieve from redness and to help keep skin looking spotless it also has super exfoliators helping to eliminate excess oils and pore-clogging debris.

I usually dab a tiny amount on the affected area(s) as and when needed and let it do its magic. Obviously we can't expect miracles so the spot is still there in the morning however it is significantly dulled and reduced in size. But if you keep applying the gel daily, after a couple of days the spot has usually vanished. Because of it's gel consistency, it's very cooling and dries fairly quickly. It sometimes feels tingly and slightly tight, but personally I don't mind because I feel as if it's working.

The only problem I found was when I applied make-up afterwards, the make-up kind of  stuck to the area where I applied the gel. But to be honest, I think that is more to do with the fact I don't give myself enough time to get ready so it wasn't quite dry enough.

If you are looking for a good spot remover then I'd definitely recommend this baby!
Hope this helped  xxx

Beauty Blogger Tag

Happy December everyone! :D hope you are all as excited for Christmas as I am. For this post, I thought I'd do a tag just because I'm relatively new to the blogging world :)

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
I started blogging because it seemed like a really run way of finding out different make-up everyone loves and expressing my opinion of different products. It's also great getting to talk to new people who also share a passion for make-up just like myself! I started blogging a couple of months back, I think my first post was Tuesday, 16th October 2012 to be exact :D

Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
I think it was probably Vivianna Does Make-up. I love the way she writes and she seems to have similar tastes to me so I really value her opinions! I also love her YouTube videos.

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product you bought and was it worth the hype?
I had seen loads of posts dedicated to the Origins Super Spot remover and at that time my face was struggling with spots so I basically thought it was fate and bought it and I am SO glad I did because it works wonders! .

What are your favourite five things about blogging and being a beauty blogger?
1. I love that it kinda justifies my bad spending habits haha, If I buy something relatively expensive I just tell myself it's for blogging purposes and it gets me through!

2. I love finding out new products everybody is raving over and it's even better when I buy it and I completely understand why.
3. I love talking to other beauty bloggers about different make-up I'm loving and they're loving and sharing similar interests
4. I love being a beauty blogger because I feel I'm actually doing some productive in my spare time (although it distracts me from uni work)
5. And lastly, I love expressing my opinions

What have you learnt from being a beauty blogger?
I've learnt to shop around and try new things! I've learnt that different products benefit some people and not others so it's always best to try it yourself. I also find myself asking people who work at make-up counters for make-up that will suit my skin tone best and their best selling products and what they recommend etc.

Have you changed anything since being a beauty blogger?
Since being a beauty blogger I've branched out more with the make-up I use and I've learnt different techniques such as high-lightening and contouring - I never used to do that! I now also have quite a brush collection going on in order to apply my make-up correctly, but I'm still learning.

What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
Write about stuff you would personally like to read yourself and about the stuff you love using at the moment or just love in general. Be friendly, and just be yourself really, so cliche haha.

Name your top five brands!
Nars, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Maybellene do the best mascaras and Origins

Recommend your top five favourite beauty products!
1 - A jolly good moisturiser that suits your skin type! I'm currently using one by Olay
2 - Origins Super Spot Remover - it's bloody fantastic! I wouldn't be without it
3 - I loveeeeeeee Topshop lipsticks, they all apply nicely and are pretty inexpensive.
4 - Bumble and Bumble surf spray! It makes your hair look kinda messy, but in a good way if you get what I mean.
5 - Essie nail polish - the formula works really well for me, lasting about 4-5 days.

Tag other beauty bloggers to do this tag!
I tag anyone who wants to do it :)

Topshop: New shoes

So being a student and all I'm supposed to have no money for these kind of treats and also as it's coming up to Christmas I'm supposed to be treating other people... However I've had my eye on these two pairs of shoes for a quite a while and I went in to Topshop with full incentive to by the black April Chelsea Boots (buy here) but surprise surprise they didn't have my size so I was all sad and I just couldn't go on. Then the next day  I checked online to see if they were back in stock and they were so I obviously had to add them to my 'basket' straight away, which is exactly what I did.

Then I was discussing with my mother how much I also liked the other pair of shoes, the black studded loafers (buy here) and she told me to put them on my Christmas list, which is also what I did for a few hours or so and then eventually I was just like sod it and added them to by basket as well.

I LOVE THEM BOTH SO MUCH!!!!
They are both extremely good leather so I can definitely see me getting plenty of use out of them! The loafers can easily be pared with some plain black socks to help keep your feet toasty in these colder months so nothing to worry about! I'm not sure what they will take to rain but we'll see. Nonetheless, they'll both be very easy to style.

Have you got your eye on any new shoes recently?

Beauty Haul (with swatches)

Hey everyone! I know it's been a little while since my last post but I'm back with a beauty haul for you! I went to the Trafford Centre on Monday for a few little bits but I ended up coming back with a few naughty extras which is probably bad seeing as I'm a student and supposed to be living a budgeted lifestyle... Nevertheless this is what I bought:

MAC Studio fix powder + foundation  £20.50
MAC Blot/Pressed Powder  £20.00
MAC Blush in 'Rosy Outlook'  (below)
Kate Moss 107 (below)
Topshop 'Wicked' (below)
Essie 'Sole Mate' (below)
Essie 'Lilacism' £7.99
Nivea Express Hydration Primer £3.99
Bumble & Bumble 50ml Surf Spray £8.50
Origins Super Spot Remover £13.00
Collection 2000 Concealer £3.99
Maybellene Colossal mascara £7.99

MAC Blush 'Rosy Outlook' £19.00
This blush is highly pigmented so you really don't need to apply a lot! It's a very soft and fair  baby pink which looks very natural on the cheeks and is perfect for everyday wear!
Topshop Lipstick 'Wicked' £9 | Kate Moss Matte Lipstick £5.49
They are both very similiar colours but there is a slight difference between them both in colour and in finish. The Kate Moss lipstick is more reddish toned with a matte finish, however after a while black specks start appearing on the bottom lip. I don't know if that is just personal to me but it's not great. But that aside, it's a nice lipstick and I love the colour. So if you were looking for a lipstick of this colour which is also matte, I'd recommend this one because it's relatively inexpensive.

The Topshop lipstick on the other hand is almost £4 more expensive but it definitely applies better.. It's berry toned with more of a satin finish I'd say! The packaging is also really cool so if you're a sucker for nice packaging this one will definitely get you! If you don't mind spending £9 on a lipstick (£8.10 with student discount) and are not a matte fan, I'd recommend it over the Kate Moss one.

The swatches don't quite show both colours accurately, sorry.
Essie 'Sole Mate' £7.99
Perfect for the autumn/winter months as this colour is one of the most popular colours on trend at the moment! It's a very dark 'vampy' colour, almost black but the purple tone is definitely visible.

Just for a heads up, I'm really loving the Bumble and Bumble surf spray and the Nivea Express Hydration primer! The primer is a very light texture so it absorbs into the skin instantly so it's great if you ever wake up 10 minutes late and in a rush. As an added bonus it keeps your face moisturised all day. Hooray!

Current Favourite Nail Polishes

(link to the video on my youtube channel)

1) Essie 'Love Dovie'
2) Barry M 'Strawberry'
3) Topshop 'High Voltage'
4) Topshop 'Blitz'
5) Barry M 'Berry'
6) Topshop 'Peaches and Cream'
7) Topshop 'Smashing Pumpkin'
8) Topshop 'Valley'
9) Topshop 'Utilitarian'
10) Topshop 'Brazil'
*numbers 4 and 9 aren't included in the video
*number 10 I somehow missed off, but it's in the video

Topshop definitely have the best colours when it comes to nail polish (for me anyway) which is probably why I have loads of them! I do tend to stick to lower price/drug store polishes just because I do think they are usually good value for money HOWEVER if I do fall in love with a shade from a higher end collection I may end up treating myself for instance I've got my eye on Butter London 'Bossy Boots' sooooooo that may be added to my collection very soon! And Essie polishes may be creeping up the ladder.

What are your favourite polishes?

Clearasil Treatment Cream

Okay so I've never really suffered with spots, I've just had the causal couple every know and then. However over the past couple of weeks my face has held multiple spot parties in ONE particular area (my chin) so within reason I've been getting pretty annoyed. I'm very unsure of my skin type, it's normal (I'd say) on my cheeks but then oily around my t-zone so yeah...

I was looking at the facial aisles in Superdrug and there was a huge selection but I opted for this one. You're supposed to apply a thin layer directly onto spots every morning and every night. So that is what I did.

Much to my amazement IT ACTUALLY WORKS (hallelujah). I've had this cream for about 3 days and  I now swear by it.  My spots have significantly reduced and all red areas also.

SO if you do suffer with spots then I highly recommend this product:
Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Treatment Cream! Retailing at £6.49

Hope this helps! X

Beauty Wishlist

Over the past couple of weeks I have discovered a variety of different products from watching different beauty video's on YouTube and also from the blogs I follow. I have done a bit of 'window' shopping and I've come up with a sufficient list. I enjoy these kinds of posts so I thought I'd let you know what I've been eyeing up.

1. Nars Skin Purifying Foam Cleanser (£20.00)  2. TAAJ HIMALAYA MICELLAR WATER (£16.00) 3. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (£28.00) 4. Nars Skin Multi-Action Hydrating Toner (£22.00) 5. It's a 10 Miracle Leave In Conditioner (£15-£20) 6. Perfect Legs Skin Miracle (£36.00)

Unfortunately being a student it's hard for me to splash my cash on such products HOWEVER I have added some of these to my Christmas wish list so IF I'm lucky, my family and boyfriend might spoil me :)

Most of these products can be found on feelunique.com (they seem to have good prices), Joliebox and Amazon!

Hope you like! X
